Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)
Treatment at Camas Health Recovery Center is focused on medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). According to the FDA, MOUD is the single most effective treatment within the medical standard of care for those suffering from opioid use disorder. Treatment with MOUD is proven to reduce opioid use more effectively when compared to programs that use placebos or no medication at all.
We provide members with FDA-approved medications for opioid use disorders, including buprenorphine (including Suboxone and Sublocade) and naltrexone (including Vivitrol).
Success in treating addiction is generally based on an individual’s needs and goals and is structured within their unique care plan for recovery. One measure of success will be for members to achieve the goals and objectives specified in their personal plan of care activities and may include their ability to regain meaningful employment and rebuild familial relationships.
Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission. Because of the progressive nature of addiction, there is an increased risk for disability or premature death if an individual is not able to access treatment or engage in appropriate recovery activities. MOUD cuts the risk of death from overdose in half compared to people in counseling alone or not in treatment.
Behavioral Health Counseling
As an integral part of the opioid recovery program, behavioral health counseling works to modify behaviors and address traumas that can lead to opioid misuse. We treat existing psychiatric disorders through counseling and/or cognitive behavioral therapies tailored to the individual.
Camas Health Recovery Center has substance use disorder professionals (SUPD), agency-affiliated counselors, and certified peer counselors (CPC) addressing behavioral health counseling within the clinic. Behavioral health services also include screening, brief intervention, referrals, case management, supported employment, supportive housing, and care coordination.
Other Healing Services
At Camas Health Recovery Center, we provide an expanded scope of care for members enrolled in our opioid treatment program to identify and address medical and psychiatric conditions that lead to, or are effects of, substance use disorder.
As part of the patient intake process and throughout their treatment, a patient is assessed for primary care needs and is offered treatment or referral for treatment as appropriate.
